At the beginning of July 2011, after suffering years of pain caused by a condition known as Polymyalgia, I came to hear of research that had been done by medical practitioners which was also being investigated by a clinic group known as Skin Renewal. I made enquiries and was advised to make an appointment with one of the doctors in attendance at one of the clinics in the Cape Town area. I did so and was referred to the clinic situated in the Willowbridge Shopping Centre. This turned out to be one of the wisest choices that I have ever made in my entire life. My first appointment was with a most gracious and petite Dr Toni van der Merwe. After a fairly comprehensive question/answer examination, she had to drop the bombshell. This 162cm lump weighing 90kg was going to pose a problem and very kindly she told me that, unless I was prepared to get rid of a fair amount of weight, there would be no point in attempting to start treatment for Polymyalgia. This is where I was introduced to the Body Renewal Diet. Dr Van der Merwe pulled no punches when explaining to me exactly what this programme entailed. I was then required to take a firm decision as to whether or not I was prepared to go the whole way and to take my weight loss programme seriously. I took the decision to take it very seriously. I was weighed, measured and photographed and then given the opportunity to decide what I felt that I should weigh. I wasn’t too sure about what my weight should be, but decided what clothing size I would like to comfortably fit into. Dr Toni agreed with me that she felt the size I had chosen was probably correct and together we decided on an appropriate weight. To cut a long story short, I reached my goal weight within a period of four months. When I had to return for my “after” photographs, Dr Toni was away on leave and I was then seen by Dr Dalize Willemse. Once again, a most pleasant consultation with a real professional, and just on two years later, even though I did have a slight relapse after the first year and gained six kilograms, by returning to the programme, have once again lost the excess weight and I am still on my goal weight. The outstanding and professional treatment which I received from all the staff at this outstanding clinic and the results which have been obtained has absolutely turned my life around. I have a zest for life and cope pretty well with my hectic schedule. Even now, when I am in the Western Cape and happen to be at the Willowbridge Centre, I pop in to greet the staff and am greeted by them all by name and as though my presence has just made their day. Real professionals!
